Thank you to all participants and our Sponsors. Island-themed party at The Sun House benefits Red Cross Whether they were relaxing on a "staycation" or enjoying a lull between vacations, the crowd gathered at The Sun House had a wonderful time and wish you were there. The Bradenton Beach estaurant partnered with the local chapter of the American Red Cross for a mid-summer fundraiser on Thursday night. Billed as an "Island Getaway," it had the feel of escape from the real world. Board member Jeannie Slater spearheaded the planning. After working with Barb Yaeger of the White Egret to put on a spring tour of homes for the Red Cross, she wanted to do another benefit on the island. Restaurant manager Chris Fielder signed up to help and the party was on. Chef Darrell Mizell put together a spectacular hors d'oeuvres buffet, and a beach-themed silent auction added to the coffers. Red Cross Executive Director Bobbi Larson was thrilled with the turnout. She said, "We are doing more of these smaller fundraisers. They give everyone more of a chance to visit and get to know each other." Board member Marianne Moyer and her husband, John, were among the guests. Their neighborhood recently held its annual "no hurricanes party" and assured us that we are safe from big storms again this year. Kara and James Pack were also getting in a little island relaxation before heading to dinner to celebrate James' birthday. Others enjoying the fun included Suzi Atherton, Steve and Sharon Litschauer and attorney Bob Hendrickson. Susan Wilcox, a Florida native, has lived in Bradenton for more than 20 years. She has been active in many local organizations as a volunteer or an employee. SCENE & HEARD Susan Wilcox
